Manchester City struggles to beat Wolverhampton at the Etihad Stadium

Manchester City managed to secure their sixth win in a row in the Premier League after silencing Wolverhampton Wanderers with a narrow 1-0 score at the Etihad Stadium, Saturday (11/12/2021).

In that match, Manchester City were frustrated by the visitors in the first half. Dominating the possession of the ball by 72 percent, City were not able to bear much fruit after the existing opportunities were successfully broken by the Wolves rearguard.

However, The Citizens' frustration was slightly relieved after The Wolves had to play with 10 men at the end of the first half following the red card received by Raul Jimenez in the 45+2 minute.

The Citizens' hard efforts in dismantling the visitors' defense finally paid off in the 66th minute after the referee pointed to the spot following Joao Moutinho's handball in the forbidden box.

Raheem Sterling, who came forward as an executioner, did not waste this opportunity by defeating Jose Sa, who was guarding the Wolverhampton goal.

The 1-0 score for Manchester City's victory lasted until the game was over.

With the addition of three points, Josep Guardianola's team is getting stronger at the top of the Premier League standings with 38 points.

While Wolverhampton are still stuck in eighth position with 21 points from 16 matches.
